PEdALED was founded in 2007 by designer Hideto Suzuki, who left a career in high-end Japanese fashion to create glam and functional cycling apparel designed to explore the world. What began as a vision in a small store in Shibuya, Tokyo, has evolved into an international business with numerous collections and product innovations. Guided by the belief that every detail of a garment should enhance both functionality and performance, PEdALED continues to take cycling to new frontiers of adventure and style.

  1. 1.

The collaboration between Cooder and PEdALED grew out of the latter's need to migrate to a better performing eCommerce platform. The transition from Magento 2.0 to Shopify was crucial to ensure stability, speed, and ease of management. The migration was not limited to simple replatforming: the Cooder team, in collaboration with the NodNod team and The Colony, developed a new design that enhances the user and shopping experience. This redesign not only reflects the client's new requirements, but is perfectly harmonized with the advanced capabilities of Shopify 2.0

  2. 2.

In addition to the design redesign and platform migration, we enriched the user experience with new features designed to improve both navigation and shopping. Among the major new features, the introduction of Bundles, Shop The Look collections, the product comparison feature (Compare Product), and dynamic product information proved key to delivering a smoother, more intuitive and engaging shopping experience.

New Features

The move to Shopify 2.0 has enabled not only the optimization of existing functionality, but also the introduction of fully customized solutions for the project. Among the most notable new features is the Shop The Lookcollection , which allows PEdALED to recommend complete outfits to its users through interactive pages.

In addition, a fully custom-created Bundle section has been implemented that allows users to group specific products into dedicated collections, offering special cart discounts for bulk purchases. The Compare Products feature was implemented through the introduction of dynamic product information, allowing users to compare two or more items based on detailed technical characteristics. Finally, the addition of Pills in menus and PLPs has made the category filtering process easier and more effective.

Autonomy and integration

All custom blocks, designed for specific sections of the site, can be used and integrated into other pages, allowing Slam Jam's eCommerce operators to modify the structure of the front end in complete autonomy, mixing editorial and commercial elements. This has been developed entirely within Shopify's Customize, taking advantage of all its features, such as translations and localization of content by country. This move to Shopify 2.0 allowed us to free ourselves from third-party page builders, such as Shogun, reducing operational costs and improving site performance.

Front-end development

Three types of modular Home Pageswere created , fully customizable through Shopify's Customize function, and an advanced Mega Menu, which integrates images, collections, and featured content to make the browsing experience clearer and more dynamic.

The Searchfunction has been customized, with products and collections recommended based on user searches, while dynamic metafield-based filters have improved accuracy and speed of response on product pages. The Siblings feature was also introduced, allowing color variants to be displayed directly in PDPs. Finally, the Blog section was developed completely custom, with a dynamic layout for articles and a modular structure.

Integrations

The integration of SAP with Shopify optimized the management of PEdALED's ERP system, ensuring perfect synchronization between the two platforms. The team also designed a new data model for the Thron enterprise PIM/DAM, adapted to the needs of the new front-end.

Logistics flow was improved through integration with AfterShip for shipment and returns management, while the Klaviyo and Gorgias CRM and Customer Experience platforms were fully integrated and configured. In addition, a multi-instance Shopify was created to effectively manage PEdALED's different target markets.
